Windsor Plaza in Eden Prairie

If you are like me, you have noticed a large building being built near the Eden Prairie mall.  Day after day I drove by this large 5 story building, and always wondered what the heck that is.  I finally made a call to the city to find out just what is going on there and was told it is the new Windsor Plaza.

Scott Kipp, senior planner with the city planning office filled me in with plenty of details about this project that began in 2006 on 4.5 acres of land located just to the east of the current Wal Mart.  I learned that there will be approximately 141,000 finished square feet total.  18,000 square feet being retail, nearly 13,000 being restaurant space, and around 110,000 feet of office space.  The first floor is the retail area, with the top three floors being office space.  The office space will be used by Virtual Radiologic Corporation.  They are a publicly traded company, and are moving from Minnetonka to Eden Prairie.

As for the retail, there will be a jewelry store and a deli, and potentially some a couple of clothing stores.  The two end caps will be the restaurants.  One restaurant moving in soon is Kona Grill.

As for parking, there will be 584 parking spaces built on a ramp.  In the future if there is a larger need for parking, they can either add more around the facility if possible, and if that doesn’t work, they can add an extra floor to the existing parking ramp.

So how does this affect home values in Eden Prairie?  There is probably no direct corelation, but that being said, I remember the day not so long ago, that Eden Prairie residents had very few options for shopping or restraunts.  Things have changed and there are more options now.  This can only have a positive affect when people are looking at homes, and deciding where they would like to live.

I would love to hear your feedback or thoughts on the new Windsor Plaza!
